Essential Businesses in the State of Nevada

On March 17, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak has announced all non-essential business closures for 30 days due to COVID-19 pandemic. But which businesses are considered essential? It’s clear that healthcare facilities, pharmacies, gas stations, and grocery stores are while casinos, shopping malls, bowling alleys, and hair salons are not.

The question then becomes - is business like a house cleaning/ sanitation service considered essential business exempt from the COVID-19 or corona virus-related prohibition? Based on our review of similar proclamations and ordinances in other states, (especially California) and the CDC guidelines for keeping homes clean and sanitized on a regular basis, cleaning companies are essential.

Many of Superb Maids’ clients are overwhelmed with keeping their household going, families engaged and consoled, and managing their businesses or jobs in this rapidly changing environment. Without professional help cleaning and disinfecting their homes, their immediate environment becomes a breeding ground for not only COVD-19 but other bacteria, viruses, and illnesses. Their asthma, allergies, and other conditions will get aggravated, leading them to visit already crowded healthcare facilities, which exposes them to more viruses and bacteria.

To decide otherwise and to conclude that the cleaning industry is non-essential will be entirely irresponsible and dangerous. We can’t expect that all people can disinfect their own homes with cleaning expertise they don’t possess and cleaning supplies they can’t even obtain. With global pandemic of infection disease paralyzing our economy and disrupting our lives, the solution is NOT to clean less. It’s to clean more. And to clean by professionals, not amateurs.

Considering that the cleaning technicians only service 1 to 2 clients per day, do not come in contact with the clients personally, wear masks, gloves, and shoe covers and use professional-grade disinfectants and have years of experience ridding surfaces of bacteria and viruses, they represent one of the best ways to keep your home COVID-19, influenza, and cold free. Importantly, we treat our cleaning staff better than many hospital facilities since we are a family and make sure our staff is not overworked and underpaid, we invest in their happiness and their wellbeing. We believe they do a superior job of cleaning!
